The opening of Taylor + Max was the manifestation of a dream two generations in the making.  My grandmother yearned to open her own store in the deep south of Mississippi.  Familial and societal constraints prevented her from doing so.  My father, just one generation later, was the founder and operator of a successful import/export business coupled with a “jet-set”, sartorially minded clientele.  Observing his fashion-forward customers with their chic, vogue sensibilities helped influence my own style as an adolescent.  These experiences, along with others, guided my decision to pursue a career in the fashion industry.

With apologies to Michael Corleone, but Taylor + Max  isn’t just business.  It *is* personal.  Even the name was inspired by two of my children.  When you buy from Taylor + Max, you aren’t just buying products that I stock.  You are buying into my philosophy as it relates to stocking treasures for your children.  You are supporting other small businesses and artisans that we know and trust. Everything available in my store can be distilled into four adjectives:

Ethical Production.  Sustainable.  Timeless.  Culture.

Whether you are visiting my brick and mortar store or making an online purchase from my website, you are my guest.  It is a relationship I do not take lightly.  You can trust every step of your transaction - from procuring pieces from partners that echo my personal ethos to ensuring that your treasures arrive safely at your home.  I take pride in building meaningful relationships with my clients and value each and every purchase made from my store.

In a world of fast fashion and instant gratification, I choose to be more deliberate.

With gratitude,

Lisa Washington,
